Everybody can be great. Because anybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and your verb agree to serve…. You don’t have to know the second theory of thermodynamics in physics to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.”

Martin Luther King, Jr.

Philippe started playing the viola during 5th grade in Stockdale Elementary. He was part of The Panama-Buena Vista Union School District (PBVUSD) Strolling Strings during junior high school. This all-volunteer group encourages students “to enjoy the thrill of music making, sharing their music talents with our community, and to help them develop the skills necessary to make music an integral part of their lives.” He is currently part of the Stockdale High School Symphony Orchestra.

Philippe’s guitar aspirations started with Bakersfield local legend Bunky Spurling in January of 2011 before moving on to classical guitar studies with Benjamin Gomez in 2012. His repertoire includes the music of Ferdinando Carulli, Matteo Carcassi and Francisco Tarrega as well as a modern finger style approach in the style of Sungha Jung. Philippe is a creative player with big aspirations for his solo playing, a blend of the classical guitar tradition and the new school of modern virtuosos.
